PvE/Heroes/Armor questions
Greetings, I have been reading a lot in the last week here, and other sites, but I still got some questions.
Little background first: I have both Prophecies and Nightfall. I started in Nightfall first, and while I liked the Dervish somewhat, the constant enchantment juggling wasn???t my cup of tea. So I tried a warrior, and that fits my playstyle much better. I finished the first Island with my Dervish, and kinda stopped there, because I want to focus on my warrior really, and I figured I start in Prophecies with her, to experience the content from the beginning (besides, I like the look of warriors in Prophecies better). Now to my questions: 1.) Will a Warrior/Monk combo be able to make it through the PvE main storyline solo (with Henchmen of course), or will I hit a roadblock at some point that is simply not possible with just henchmen ? I don???t mind things being difficult, and I don???t want to a specific build advice, those things I like to figure out myself, though I???d hate to invest time if I end up at a point where I can???t continue by myself (with this particular combination). I know it is a multiplayer game, and I actually like grouping, but I also like to be able to complete things on my own if needed. Since I play for the content, the missions, the stories, I prefer to set my own pace. So, is it possible to finish the Prophecies and Nightfall PvE campaigns solo for a Warrior/Monk (with heroes/henchmen) ? 2.) I really like the Hero system, and the added tactic element they give with equipping them with skills. Of course, those are not available at first in Prophecies. So if I get to Lion???s Arch, do the quest to be able to ferry over to Istan, I take it I can use heroes there. So two questions here: 2a. Do I get all account wide unlocked heroes available to be added to my party (through PvP and/or with my Dervish), or are they character specific ? 2b. And more importantly, once I made it over to Istan, got my heroes, can I use them to continue my Prophecies quests ? 3.) An rather odd question for last??? I love the look of the Gladiator armor (regular, the 15k versions will be unaffordable for some time). Is there a feasible way to get a set early (similar to getting a ferry to the Consulate Docks in Kamadan for max sunpear armor), provided I have the money/materials ready ? Thank you for your time. |

You can get the gladiator style at lower armor levels though, starting from Yak's Bend (which is quite early in the grand scheme of the Prophecies) and pretty much everywhere thereafter. So you could get the general style early on, and upgrade its armor level as you progress through the game |

1. You cant make a mistake in choosing your secondary profession, because later in game you can always change it to whichever you want as many times as you want. W/Mo, despite all, the hate is probably the best idea for a beginner since you will have access to a reusable resurrect (which can be handy when you play mostly with henchmen). But even with no skills from your secondary (thus, with only warrior skills on your skill bar) you can finish all three chapters
2.a Heroes are character specific, but their access to skills is account-wide 2.b Yes, once you've got your heroes you can take them anywhere you like 3. Good choice! The closest town you can get your first (non max) set of Glads armor is Yak's Bend which is a town you get to after you finish the first 4 missions. Max AL gladiator's armor in Prophecies is in Drognar Forge |

1) W / Mo is one of the stronger combinations for PvE (not so much for PvP). It's a match from heaven. Speaking from personal experience, you can finish Prophecies (as in, every mission) with only henchmen, although you may have to fail several times to learn how to finish it. However, you absolutely cannot finish a very small handful of quests or mission bonuses with them. The first examples that come to mind are the Ice Caves of Sorrow (where Spectral Agony rips them apart) and the Titan Quests (where everything gets a huge level bonus except your henchmen). You can't finish Nightfall with only henchmen; however, you can finish Nightfall with heroes and henchmen.
2a) As I understand it, heroes are specific to each character but unlocked for the account, very much like skills. If you learn Zealous Benediction for your Monk, you can always equip it for a PvP character; however, it won't automatically be available for another PvE character. 2b) Yes, and they make it possible to complete the handful of Prophecies quests and bonuses that I referenced earlier. 3) You can purchase non-maxed Gladiator Armor from Corwen in post-searing Ascalon City. You can also purchase a run to Droknar's Forge for maxed Gladiator's Armor, although it's a bit pricey. Edit: Corwen probably only sells the headpiece of Gladiator's Armor, now that I think about it. Yak's Bend is probably the first place to purchase a whole set. Last edited by Sun Fired Blank; Apr 26, 2007 at 01:20 PM // 13:20.. |

So my main plan would be start in Prophecies, play through the campaign, get the gladiator look in Yak's Bend, continue untill I reach Lion's Arch natuarly, head over to Nightfall, get a few heroes though playing a bit that storyline, then head back to Prophecies, with my heroes, and finish that first. Not really a question here, just my usual ramblings Anyway, thanks for the quick reply. |

The first of the titan quests is doable with henchmen. You will die a few times, but if you do it right it won't be hard at all.
And it took me over ten tried with PUGs before I gave up and henched it. |
